Prosperity NCP’s only goal, says Nepal

Rautahat, August 19

Senior Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today said that his party and the incumbent government had no choice but to transform Madhes and usher in prosperity in the country.

Addressing a programme organised by his party at Rautahat headquarters Gaur, Nepal said the government and his party had given top priority to infrastructure development to bring in prosperity at any cost. “NCP has no alternative but to shoulder the responsibility of ushering in development and prosperity in the country,” he added.

Nepal insisted only his party could implement big projects of infrastructure development in the Tarai to transform the face of Madhes.  He stressed the need to forge consensus among all the parties and the government to speed up works on the East-West highway, Nijgadh-Kathmandu Fast Track, Nijgadh International airport, industrial corridor, railway track, among others, to change the face of the Tarai and the country.

Nepal said that the recently enacted penal code would help eliminate dowry system, violence against women, child marriage and other social perversions in the country.

Nepal welcomed more than 200 individuals into his party with garlands. The newcomers in the NCP had defected from Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, Nepali Congress and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal.
