Protest demanding Kirant province in Khotang

Federal Socialist Kirant Province Committee, an umbrella organization of agitating Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, started village-centric protest demanding autonomous Kirant province in Khotang from Friday.
The agitators called for a shutdown in the proposed Kirant territory on Thursday as well. San Bahadur Rai, central member of the party, claimed that they would launch various village-centric peaceful protests till August 10.
The committee has demanded that all the territory of Khotang, Bhojpur districts and the Kirant settlement areas of Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Sunsari, Sindhuli and Ramechhap, among other districts, be incorporated in the proposed Kirant province.
The committee has announced that they would distribute pamphlets and brochures asking people in the aforementioned areas to stick to their demand for autonomous Kirant province. The programme has been launched in all the districts with Kirant settlements.
