Protest for undivided Mid-West unabated in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT: Tensions continued to run high in Jajarkot district headquarters Khalanga on Wednesday after protestors continued demonstrations demanding that the Mid-West Development Region be kept intact in the federal set-up.

They also demanded that Surkhet be declared the capital of the Mid-West Pradesh.

The protestors have been shutting down government and private offices of the headquarters as well as transportation services for last few days.

On Wednesday, they clashed with police after the security personnel tried to cordon off them from obstructing business at the government offices.

Meanwhile, the protestors picketed the Jajarkot District Administration Office for an hour.

The agitators have been demanding that the government join districts of Karnali and Bheri zones to make a Mid-West Pradesh.

A local civil society leader Rajendra Bikram Shah said they would not stop the protests until their demands were met.
