Protest kick off against new charter
Birgunj, September 17
No sooner was the statute ratified than protest kicked off in the plains with households showing black flags in Birgunj of Parsa.
Condemning the political parties for imposing the nation’s constitution through the barrel of gun, the locals have put up the flags at their houses in different villages.
As part of the protest, the locals spontaneously carried black flags from early morning and demonstrated chanting slogans against the government and ruling parties.
Sadbhawana Party central member Nejamudi Samani described the protest as a natural response of the oppressed lot.
Amidst preparations to celebrate constitution promulgation day by illuminating houses throughout the country, the agitating parties in the Tarai are preparing to mark the same day as a black day by organising protests all over the region.
“As part of the protest programme, we have decided to enforce a blackout across the Tarai on Sunday and torch copies of the new constitution and demonstrate with black bands that day and the day after,” Samani informed.
