Locals brought vehicular movement on the Mahendra highway to a halt today, saying that transport entrepreneurs raised bus fare on their own.

Owing to the erratic supply of petroleum products, transport entrepreneurs have hiked bus

fare. This move on the part of the transport entrepreneurs fuelled protests with the locals blocking road on the Chormara-Jyalbas road.

“Transport entrepreneurs have raised fare prior to the increment in the prices of petroleum products,” passengers said. Later transport entrepreneurs agreed to roll back the fare hike and the traffic was resumed at 3 pm, the police said.
