Protesters shut municipality

Kathmandu, January 21:

Students protesting price hike in petroleum products forced the closure of Bidur municipality area today. The students took to the streets from early morning and burnt tyres at various places to obstruct traffic.

Educational, commercial and industrial institutions also remained shut due to the protest. Police and protestors also had verbal confrontation when the police tried to stop students from setting on fire tyres in front of a traffic police post in Bidur but no untoward event occurred. No vehicles plied on the Kathmandu-Nuwakot and Nuwakot-Rasuwa. Few taxis that plied on the Pasang Lhamu Road had to return after the students denied entry.
