Protesters stall Rapti transport body’s service

The families who had lost their dear ones in the Garjeni bus mishap have blocked transportation services to protest delay in providing relief funds. They prevented vehicles belonging to Rapti Zone Transport Entrepreneurs’ Committee from plying today. At least 41 persons, including children and senior citizens, were killed in the Garjeni bus accident on January 21.The RZTEC is yet to provide compensation to the families of the deceased. According to transport body’s rule, each deceased family is entitled to receive Rs 17, 500 for the final rites of each deceased. “We were compelled to suspend transportation services due to delay in the distribution of relief funds,” said Shreedhar Gautam, who lost his two brothers, a son and a daughter in the accident.
