Protests in Nepalgunj, Dhankuta

Nepalgunj, April 15:

Thousands of people took part in protest programmes organised by the five agitating parties against regression in Nepalgunj and Dhankuta today.

In Nepalgunj, a rally was organised which started from BP Chowk and eventually converted into a corner meeting at Birendrachowk.

The rally was attended by the local leaders of five agitating parties in which the demonstrators shouted anti-King slogans.

The police tried to intervene as the representatives of different human rights organisations monitored the rally.

Addressing the corner meeting, central committee member of CPN-UML, Dewendra Koirala, warned the King to correct his mistake or else he will have to face a very difficult time.

Central member of Janamorcha Nepal, Bed Prasad Acharya, acting district president of NC Gobinda Prasad Shrestha and Satyawati Kurmi of NSP (Aanandi Devi) also expressed their views.

Meanwhile, a sit-in was organised against regression in Dhankuta today. Professors, teachers, journalists, lawyers and representatives of various NGOs, INGOs, artists and politicians took part.

The sit-in lasted for an hour and traffic also came to a standstill.
