Province govt calls for restraint

KANCHANPUR: The Province 7 Government has called on all concerned sides to show restraint as the situation became violent following clashes between demonstrators and the police administration.

A minor was killed as the police opened fire at the protestors in Bhimdattanagar on Friday evening.

An emergency meeting of the province government was held on Saturday morning. "The government expresses regret on the death of 14-year-old Sunny Khunna while requesting the locals to maintain peace and help the investigation process," said Minister for Internal Affairs and Law and province government spokesperson Prakash Bahadur Shah.

"The meeting has decided to provide compensation to Sunny’s family."

“Compensation will also be provided for the treatment locals and policemen injured in the clashes,” said the Minister.
