Public offence case against 5 Banke protesters

KATHMANDU: The Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, one of the major constituents of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front, said police filed a public offence case against its five cadres in Banke for their involvement in the Madhes protests.

Issuing a press statement today, the party said Rakesh Loniya, Subas Loniya, Layak Ram Loniya, Jagat Ram Loniya and Babadin Loniya, residents of Manikapur-2 in the district, were arrested while disseminating information about their protest programmes.

Of them, Babadin has also been charged with an arms and ammunition case.

Meanwhile, the FSF-N claimed that the accusations were false and demanded that the cadres be released soon.

It accused Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of influencing police to file cases against its cadres.

All the five arrestees had defected to the FSF-N from NC and UML just a month ago.
