Dahal preaches national consensus for development

KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday said national consensus was a must to expedite the national development projects and give an end to all the problems currently facing the nation.

Speaking at a function in Banke district of mid-western Nepal today, Dahal said, "National consensus is needed to complete Constitution implementation and the peace process; address demands of Madhes and Janajati communities and carry out overall development of the nation."

"Thousands of Nepalis are currently abroad. It is very sad that the national economy is dependent on their remittance," he said, "It should end with the national unity."

At the function organised to mourn death of Achyut Raj Subedi, a local entrepreneur and his party cadre, killed in the 2015 earthquake, Dahal said the national consensus was also needed to combat the devastation caused by the tremblor and rebuild the nation.

He was of the view that Nepal should move ahead toward the journey of development by utilising resources available here.
