Dahal, Deuba inspect disaster scale

Bara/Birgunj, April 2

Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and opposition Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today inspected the storm-ravaged areas in Bara and announced relief amount for victims.

Dahal met victims of the storm and said that his party would provide Rs five lakh to each of the families who lost their members in the devastating storm in Bara and Parsa districts. He pledged to lend all possible support for the rehabilitation of storm victims. “Madhes is in deep grief at present. The incident has given unbearable pain to the entire nation. All of us should join hands to rehabilitate storm victims,” Dahal said.

Earlier, Dahal had visited Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital and met the people injured in the storm. He wished speedy recovery for the injured and urged doctors to provide them good treatment.

Similarly, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba announced that his party would provide Rs 2.5 million to families who lost their members in the storm in Bara and Parsa.

Deuba visited Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital and National Hospital and met the injured undergoing treatment there. He said his party would make sure that the government made rescue and relief works effective. He said his party would press the government to provide free treatment to the injured. He directed the party rank and file to be involved in rescue and relief work.

NC central member Farmullah Mansur said NC would provide Rs 2.5 million from the centre and NC Province 2 Parliamentary Party would provide Rs one million to Province 2 Chief Minister Relief Fund separately.

Deuba had reached Bara’s Pheta Rural Municipality, Bharbaliya and Purainiya villages and take stock of the damage caused by the storm. He met the victims and pledged to render all possible support.
