Rae meets UML chair
KATHMANDU, July 12
Indian Ambassdor to Nepal Ranjit Rae on Sunday met CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and inquired about the latest developments in the constitution making process.
According to Oli’s personal secretary Ramesh Acharya, Oli told Rae that a new constitution would be promulgated by August 5.
Oli also told Rae that after promulgation of the constitution, elections for the post of president, prime minister and speaker of the House would be held and boundaries of the federal units would be delineated within six months.
“We tried to bring all the parties on board but when we failed, we signed the 16-point deal to ensure maximum support for the new constitution in the CA,” Acharya quoted Oli as telling Rae.
In response, Rae told Oli that India wanted a new constitution in Nepal as soon as possible and India would extend all possible support to Nepal for its prosperity.
According to Acharya, Rae, who is scheduled to leave for New Delhi in two or three days met Oli to take stock of the constitution making process before he leaves for New Delhi.
