Rain hits life in far-west

Dipayal, September 25:

Life in the far-western region was paralysed today due to incessant downpour for the last two days. Traffic came to a halt because of landslides on different sections of the roads in the hilly districts. Landslides have blocked the Bhimdutta Highway (link between Terai and Hill), KI Singh Highway (from Dadheldhura to Silgadhi) and on certain other sections of the roads. Electricity supply has also been cut in Doti, Dadeldhura and Baitadi districts since last night. According to Nanda Lal Subedi, chief of Doti Hydro-Electric Project, electricity supply could not be resumed as the ‘fault point’ is yet to be identified. He said it would take at least two days to resume supply. Far-Western Regional Road Directorate, Dipayal, said landslides have occurred in four places along the KI Singh Highway.
