Rajbiraj airport to be ready before mid-July

The construction of Rajbiraj Airport’s runway will reportedly be completed by mid-July this year, at least five months before the contract period expires.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the International Relations and Labour Committee of the Legislature Parliament today, Ram Ekbal Mahato, chief of the construction project, said he project will be complete ahead of schedule. “We assure that the test flight will happen before mid-July,” Mahato said.

“The construction of the 1,500 metres-long and 30 metres-wide runway has a budget of 300 million rupees. We will not have to worry about inadequate budget in the operation of the airport,” assured Mahato.

Meanwhile, Committee Chairperson Prabhu Sah said that this project was in his priority list. He also assured that necessary budget would be managed for smooth operation of the airport.

Sah also drew the attention of district leaders of different political parties to the need to construct a four-lane road along Kunauli and the postal road section.

Parliamentary committee member and Constituency No 2 lawmaker Amar Mandal, and lawmaker Jitendra Narayan Dev were among those present at the interaction.
