Rajendra Mahato calls international community to support Madhes protests
BIRGUNJ: Chairman of Sadbhawana Party, one of the constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front, Rajendra Mahato, has called international community to extend support to the ongoing Tarai-Madhes protests.
Speaking at a press meet in Birgunj of Parsa today, Mahato claimed the friendly nations should support the protests as Madhesi people were agitating for their rights.
He was of the view that support from the international community would pile pressures on the government to meet their demands.
Meanwhile, the Madhesi leader claimed that the government was not interested in fulfilling their demands, neither did it present itself with due preparations in the talks.
Recalling that various nations including India and China had extended their support to Nepali political parties during the democratic movements of 1990 and 2006, Mahato said the Madhesi parties expected the same level of support from them.
He claimed that the government violated principles of human rights in suppressing protests.
