Rally held to mark drive against GBV

Kathmandu, November 25

A global campaign­, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, began today by organising awareness programmes throughout the country with the theme ‘Gender-based Violence and harassment is unacceptable to us’.

An awareness rally was taken out by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and  National Women Commission from Bhrikutimandap on the occasion. Hundreds of men and women participated in the rally.

Similarly, United Nations country team marked the campaign by illuminating the provincial assembly buildings of all the provinces in orange. ‘

Orange the world: #HearMeToo’ is the international theme for the campaign this year.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is an international campaign which takes place each year.

The 16-day campaign commences on November 25, the

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.
