RAP to build bridges

KATHMANDU: Rural Access Programme (RAP) is all set to construct bridges over the Arun River, linking Dhankuta with Bhojpur, and over the Sabha Khola in Sankhuwasabha as part of its Bridge Component Project."The construction of the bridges will start in April 2010. Department for International Development of the British government has provided a grant for the project," says Tim Stiff, project team leader. The construction is expected to be over by 2012. The 192 km Hile-Bhojpur-Khotang road was built by the RAP of the DFID in 2008, linking Bhojpur and Khotang with the national road network. But the road was not fully operational since the ferry at Leguwaghat would function only during the dry season.
