GULMI: The Gulmi District Court on Friday sentenced a man to five years in jail for raping a nine-year-old girl.

A single bench of District Judge Matrika Prasad Marasini handed down the sentence to Gambar Singh Chhantyal of Wami VDC-7, according to registrar at the Gulmi District Court Shyam Birahi Maoure.

Police had arrested Chhantyal and filed a rape case against him at the District Court in June last year.

Chhantayl has been sent to the Gulmi District Prison.
