Election official found hanging in Rasuwa, airlifted to Kathmandu

RASUWA: An election official has been airlifted to Kathmandu from Rasuwa for treatment after finding him hanging from a noose in the District Coordination Committee's guesthouse.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Phanindra Prasain, Santosh Giri was deputed to Kalika Rural Municipality of the district for the local level elections. Giri is unconscious though his pulse rate is regular.

A friend who was staying with Giri at the guesthouse heard some noise coming from a passageway at around 4:15 am this morning. He sought sought locals' support to rescue the election official and untie the noose.

Giri was then rushed to the Nuwakot Hospital for treatment and referred to Kathmandu as he remained unconscious.

A new election official has already been deputed to the Kalika Rural Municipality for the candidate registration today, according to the Election Office, Rasuwa.

Giri, who is originally stationed at the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, arrived in Rasuwa last week to take up the job of as election official.
