Rasuwa police launch crackdown on cross-border gold smuggling

RASUWA: Police have stepped up security checking at northern Rasuwagadhi border point following the rampant incidents of gold smuggling through the Nepal-China border point.

Chief of the Rasuwa District Police Office, Phanindra Prasain, informed that people had been asked to cooperate with police in the crackdown and give information (if any) about such incidents.

He added that identity of those who would provide information would be kept confidential.

On Monday, a man named Chakra Bahadur Dhamala of Simpalakapre-6 in Sindhupalchok was held along with 117.32 gm gold bar from Rasuwagadhi border point.

Dhamala was smuggling the gold into Nepal, police said.
