Rautahat boy drowns in Lal Bakaiya River

RAUTAHAT: A 10-year-old boy has drowned in Lal Bakaiya River in Gaur of Rautahat district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Shiekh Istak, a permanent resident of Sapaghadha of Gaur-10.

Istak, along with his friends, had gone to take bath in the river. The child, however, drowned while he went toward a deeper section of the river while bathing, according to the Rautahat District Police Office.

Istak's uncle Atiulla, who was working in a field nearby, had heard his friends scream for help and immediately rushed to the site.

He had rescued the victim, but could not save him, added DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari.

The victim was rushed to the Gaur-based Rautahat District Hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
