RAUTHAT: Police on Thursday arrested an alleged mugger from Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section in Rautahat district.

Police arrested Anil Yadav aka Munchun of Jhunkhunwa VDC-8 in Rautahat district at about 10 am.

According to police, Yadav had attacked an Indian national Kisan Kumar Jaisawal with a sharp weapon, injured him and mugged him of NRs 20,000 and IRs 20,000 at Bam Nahar in Jhunkhunwa VDC, at about 5:30 am this morning.

Jaisawal, the resident of Phulbariya in Motihari in the Indian state of Bihar, was heading to Gaur from Kathmandu on a motorcycle.

The injured Jaisawal with the help from his parents has been sent to a hospital in Patna of Bihar for treatment.

Police confiscated a canoe folding knife, two scalpel blades, two packets of marijuana, a set of Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 mobile phone, IRs 3,350 and NRs 14,050 from the suspect.

Parading the accused together with his belongings at the District Police Office, Gaur, SP Ganesh Regmi informed that criminal activities were growing in the area near the East-West Highway lately, coinciding with the ongoing Madhes agitation.
