Rautahat municipal staffers on warpath over beating of official

RAUTAHAT: Work in all the three municipalities of Rautahat was halted indefinitely from on Sunday.

Local Government Employees Association and Nepal Municipality Employees Association Rautahat jointly obstructed everyday work in Gaur, Garuda and Chandrapur municipalities from on Sunday.

Municipality employees decided to agitate after a team lead by Sadbhavana Party District Chairman Shekh Jamshed misbehaved with Sunil Yadav, executive officer of Gaur municipality yesterday.

According to agitating employees, Jamshed had misbehaved with Yadav after the latter refused to give Jamshed a project worth three lakh rupees.

A joint meeting of the associations decided that they would continue the protest until the administration took stern action against the guilty.

The statement issued by Association Unit Chairman Binod Paswan demanded immediate stern action against those who misbehaved with the civil servant.

“The police administration has not been able to nab the guilty. Hence, employees can’t continue their everyday work as they feel unsafe and insecure,” read the statement.

Chandrapur municipality Chief Officer Kiran Nidhi Tiwari and Garuda municipality Executive Officer Jaya Narayan Shreevastav warned that they would not return to their offices until the guilty was punished.

CDO Madan Bhujel said the case would be probed and take legal action against the guilty.
