Rautahat VDC offices shut for fourth consecutive day

RAUTAHAT: Day-to-day administrative function in almost all VDC offices of Rautahat district came to a complete for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, owning to a protest of VDC secretaries.

The VDC secretaries have resorted to a strike since Sunday after Samanpur VDC's Accountant Kameshwor Shani was arrested and dragged into a public office case by police.

Police had accused Sahani of beating up and injuring a local woman.

Coordinator of the VDC Secretary Rights Protection Centre, Shiva Pujan Raya, said the strike would continue till alleged Sahani was released.

Meanwhile, hundreds of service seekers who had gone to the concerned VDC offices to get recommendations for citizenship certificates and acquire birth, death and marriage registrations were forced to return empty-handed due to the strike.

The members of public demanded that concerned authorities immediately pay attention to and solve the issue.

Meanwhile, SP Ganesh Regmi, Chief of the District Police Office, said Sahani among three would be presented at the District Administration Court today itself.
