Rautahat woman found murdered; hubby, in-laws flee scene

RAUTAHAT:  A 28-year-old woman in Pachrukhi VDC-2 in Rautahat district was found dead with her throat slit, on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Ranju Devi Thakur of the locality, was killed by her husband, Bali Thakur Hajam and her in-laws, preliminary police investigation suggested.

Adding to suspicion of their involvement, all the family members are absconding after the incident.

Neighbours of the victim had informed the Area Police Office in Ganga Pipara about the incident after finding the body in a suspicious condition.

According to the District Police Office in Rautahat, a police team had found body with its throat slit covered by a sari.

A blood-stained blade was also recovered from the incident site.

Police Inspector Ram Prakash Chaudhary informed the body has been sent to the District Hospital in Gaur for autopsy.

As all of the family members fleed from the scene, police are planning to handover the body to Jagarnath Thakur Hajam of Bahadur VDC-9 of Sarlahi, one of relatives of the victim.

Preliminary investigation also suggested that the victim's husband Bali, his second wife Sita Devi, father-in-law Samaru and bother-in-law Ajay were involved in the crime.

Bali had married Sita from Sitamarhi district of Bihar after Ranju suffered some mental illness.

DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi said police have launched a manhunt to nab the suspects.
