Rautahat woman murdered mysteriously

Rautahat, January 8

A 21-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Phatuha Maheshpur VDC in Rautahat yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Lalmuni Kumari, of Champaran, India.

Kumari’s paternal family has charged that she was murdered by her husband’s family.

Jaya Prakash Sha Sonar, brother of the deceased, said his sister was taken to Birgunj-based hospital in an ambulance after she was killed in the house.

The ambulance driver had informed police after he suspected the woman might have been dead, before the vehicle returned to District Hospital, Gaur.

Kumari had tied the knot with dentist Santosh Sha, son of Rajendra Sha, of Phatuha Maheshpur VDC, Rautahat in March, 2016. Jaya Prakash said they had offered Santosh Rs 10 lakh Indian Currency as dowry. “Santosh had threatened our family of dreadful consequences if we did not offer him five lakh Indian Currency to open a private clinic,” Jaya Prakash added.

Meanwhile, Police Inspector Birendra Paswan at District Police Office, Rautahat said they were closely looking into the incident. He informed that the body was kept in District Hospital, Gaur for post-mortem while Kumari’s father-in-law was arrested.

Police said they were searching for Santosh. Jaya Prakash has demanded action against the culprits.
