Raw deal for Jana Andolan heroes

New Delhi, September 29:

Jana Andolan-II ended six months ago but the woes of those who lent it their blood, sweat and tears are yet to end. Most of these “living martyrs” are undergoing medical treatment in India.

Sri Bhadra Kandel of Lekhnath Municipality Ward No 9 in Kaski district reached India a few days ago seeking specialised treatment. According to the Nepalese Embassy here, a mini metal plate was successfully planted through surgery in Kandel’s hand at the government general hospital in Chennai yesterday.

Kandel was critically injured after getting shot during the agitation.

Sindhu Uprety, wounded during the agitation, received medical treatment at AIIMS in Delhi some time ago and returned to Nepal recently. He had sustained a bullet injury in the arm while demonstrating at Birtamod.
