Ready to take over reins of NC, says Shekhar Koirala

Biratnagar: Nepali Congress central member Shekhar Koirala today said that he was ready to lead the party.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Union, Biratnagar, Koirala said that he was the right candidate to take party’s leadership. He argued that the next General Convention of the party should not be only for electing the party president.

Koirala said that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba should call a meeting of the Central Working Committee to review the recent polls. He warned that he would start collecting the signatures if the CWC meet was not called pronto.

Koirala reasoned that NC had received people’s mandate to stay in the opposition. “The NC has to stay in the opposition for five years,” Koirala said, adding, “NC should not get involved in making and unmaking the government”.
