Rebels admit hand in murder

Dhankuta, March 10:

The outlawed Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists), Dhankuta district committee, has issued a press statement claiming responsibility for a series of violent activities they had carried out in the district.

In a press statement issued yesterday by the committee secretary Sudarshan, the Maoists have taken responsibility for the killing of former Belaha Village Development Committee chairman Ganga Bahadur Joshi on February 18.

The Maoists have also taken responsibility for the December 6, 2003, incident at Hile bazaar

in which two policemen were killed and one injured and the

attack on December 1, 2003, at Dhankuta bazaar in which head-constable Padam Shrestha was severely injured.

Similarly, the Maoists had attacked a police team on January 15 killing one security man and injuring another.

Maoists had also attacked and injured a RNA personnel at Sindhuwa bazaar of Parewadin village development committee on January 22.

They have also claimed of putting a bomb at the main gate of Saleri Light Yati army barrack on January 16. One army man was killed when the bomb put in a bag went off.

The Maoists had bombed the district agricultural development bank office on January 3, district forest office on February 15 and district education office on March 6.
