Rs 11.11bln released for post-quake reconstruction in 11 districts
KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) today released Rs 11.11 billion for the reconstruction of houses in 11 districts that were worst hit by last year's earthquake sequence.
Of the total Rs 12.41 billion provided by the high-powered authority to the Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, the Implementation Unit released the amount to respective District Development Committees (DDCs), according to the NRA.
Although 14 districts were declared hardest hit by the 7.6 magnitude earthquake, the government is providing financial aid to 11 districts in this phase. The amount has been allocated based on the impacts of earthquake.
NRA Spokesperson Ram Prasad Thapaliya told RSS Dolakha district secured some Rs 2.22 billion while Kavrepalanchok around Rs 1.96 billion.
Similarly, Sindhupalchok and Ramechhap received around Rs 1.76 billion and Rs 1.48 billion, respectively.
Likewise, Gorkha, where the epicenter of the April 25 earthquake is situated, received Rs 214.5 million.
Spokesperson Thapaliya added that the earthquake survivors in these districts will receive the amount as grant as per the agreement made between the respective DDCs and Nepal Rastra Bank.
