Reconstruction work in Majhi settlement monitored

Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada today monitored post-earthquake reconstruction process in a Majhi settlement in Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap.

Accompanied by a team of World Bank representatives, the minister said that the government was committed to completing the reconstruction work within the stipulated deadline.

“The reconstruction work taking place with the support of the World Bank progressing as expected. Almost one third of the houses have been reconstructed so far,” he said, adding, “As for now, we are facing fund crunch to complete the reconstruction work on time, so we have been talking to the World Bank for additional support.” “The World Bank so far has provided support for the reconstruction of 151,000 houses so far,” he said.

Of the total 63 households in the Majhi settlement, 30 have received final instalment of the housing grant.
