‘Reduce power cuts’

HETAUDA: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal-aligned Rastriya Prajatantra Youth Organisation Nepal has demanded reduction of load-shedding hours in the district.

“Last year, NEA struck an agreement with us to limit load-shedding to 56 hours a week, but it has violated the agreement.

We will resort to agitation if the agreement is not implemented,” Dhungana warned. He added that they were also taking initiatives to declare the district load-shedding free.

Makawanpur boasts of Kulekhani I and II hydropower projects with combined capacity of 92 megawatts along with a 14 MW capacity diesel plant.

“As our district is contributing significantly to power generation, it’s reasonable that we should be exempted from load-shedding,” said Dhungel.
