Damak, June 5:

Bhutanese refugees languishing in seven camps in Jhapa and Morang districts have expressed dissatisfaction over a proposal of the UNHCR to settle them in a third country. The UNHCR, in a press release three days ago, said it could settle the refugees in a third country.

Krishna Bahadur Dangal, a refugee at Beldangi camp, said: “Our ultimate wish is to return to our own country; we cannot think of settling down in a third country.”

Meanwhile, the Bhutan Human Rights Organisation has appealed to Prime Minster Girija Prasad Koirala to draw the attention of the Indian Government on finding a solution to the refugee problem. It will be difficult to solve the problem without Indian support, it said.
