Regulate supply of LPG, CIAA tells govt
Kathmandu, August 23:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today directed the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to set up a regulatory mechanism to monitor the supply of LPG cooking gas.
The anti-graft body told the ministry to change the existing laws to check the use of cylinders that are in worse conditions.
“These cylinders are dangerous from the perspective of public health and safety so that they should be regulated,” said a statement issued by CIAA spokesperson Min Bahadur Poudyal Chhetri.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority also recommended the ministry to monitor the code of conduct for suppliers and to adopt a mechanism to review the price of big hotels, as they are enjoying subsidies meant for commoners.
