Regulating responsibility of cooperatives handed to local levels in Bara
BARA: Division Cooperative Office Bara has handed over a regulating responsibility of 716 cooperatives being operated in the district under its administration, to the local levels on Wednesday.
In a special ceremony organised in Kalaiya, the cooperatives were handed over to the Chiefs, Deputies and Executive Officers of 16 local levels including Sub-Metropolitans, Municipalities and Rural Municipalities.
As per the Cooperative Act 2074, regulating responsibility of all the cooperatives being operated in the country is being handed over to local levels. The handing over programmes have already been held in four districts including Makwanpur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Tanahun.
Registrar of Cooperative Department Keshav Prasad Regmi, who attended the program, informed that the monitoring responsibility of more than 35,000 cooperatives being run in different districts will be handed over to local levels within March 29. The regulating responsibility of 10 kinds of cooperatives including multipurpose, savings and credit, and small farmers will be handed over to local levels during that period.
"Local levels will now look after the regulation, and registration of new cooperatives among other different responsibilities," said Division Cooperative Office Bara Chief Kulotam Prasad Pokharel.
