Reliance Mills shut

Itahari, May 22:

Labourers of the Reliance Spinning Mills in Khanar, Sunsari, did not join office today, accusing the management of making attempts to beat up their leaders.

The laborers staged a strike after some youths threatened to kill labour leader of the mill, Anjan Mishra. They held talks with the management yesterday, demanding salary of the period during pro-democracy movement. All the labourers returned home after getting positive signals from talks. However, some youths close to the management made unsuccessful attempt to beat up union leaders this morning, labourers claimed. The mill will remain closed until the management takes strong action against the guilty, Mishra said. However, assistant manager Mahesh Pokhrel claimed that the charge was false.
