KHOTANG: Relief aid was distributed by followers of Buddhism to the fire victims in Halesi of Khotang district on Friday.

A fire that took place last Tuesday night had destroyed homes and properties of the locals in Mahadevsthan, Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-7 of Khotang district. The Buddhists on Friday distributed Rs 5,000 and 50 kg of rice each to the fire affected families of the area.

The District Disaster Relief Committee, Red Cross Society, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Municipality, and Khotang Natural Disaster Relief Fund, among other agencies have extended their support to the fire survivors.

The Municipality took initiative to collect relief for the rehabilitation of fire affected families.

The relief is also being collected in Kathmandu for the fire survivors in Halesi. The fire victims are now residing in makeshift huts constructed by the Nepal Army of Shergan Mudhe barrack and the Armed Police Force, Halesi Gulma.
