Relief distributed to flood victims in Sarlahi village

Rautahat, August 26

Hetauda Eye Hospital under Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu and Barbara Peace Foundation together provided relief materials to flood victims at Sisaut of Ram Nagar Rural Municipality in Sarlahi district, today.

The organisations in local coordination with Shreehari Cooperatives, Sisauti, distributed the materials to around 100 families from impoverished Chamar, Dom, Musahar and Muslim communities in the rural municipality. The families had been left in the lurch ever since floods damaged their houses.

HCEH administrative officer Sudhir Shrestha informed that food materials and items such as rice, pulses, salt, cooking oil, toothpaste, toothbrushes and clothes were distributed. The recipients were elated to have the materials as they had not received relief from any individual or organisation, said Shrestha.

While distributing the relief, BPF director Sharad Chandra Adhikari expressed his happiness for being able to help flood victims and stressed the need to support each other in any crisis situation in the country.
