Resettled Bhutanese in US donate Rs 1.9 million
KATHMANDU: The community of Bhutanese resettled in the United States has donated Rs 1.9 million for the quake victims of Nepal through the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in New York.
Bhutanese delegates from various states of the US on Saturday met Rachel, UNICEF’s Assistant Director, Civil Society Partnerships, the US Fund in New York and handed over the support.
According to a statement issued by the Bhutanese community in the US, the fund was collected with the initiative of six Bhutanese community: Bhutanese American-Philadelphia (PAO-P) in Pennsylvania; Bhutanese Community of Scranton (BCS) in Pennsylvania; Bhutanese Community Association of (BCAP) in Pennsylvania; Bhutanese Nepali Community of Columbus (BNCC) in Ohio; Bhutanese Community of Greater Rochester (BCGR) in New York,and Bhutanese Community of Minnesota (BCOM) in Minnesota.
The amount was extended through the US Fund for UNICEF.
