Revisit statute: KC

POKHARA, July 31

Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narasingh KC has underlined the need to rectify the technical as well as linguistic errors in the draft constitution.

Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Women Association Pokhara Town Committee here on Friday, KC voiced his concern about the imminent conflict

that could flare up in the country due to errors in the draft statute.

“Among other provisions, the term ‘secularism’ has been most controversial and has created problems. It should be removed as we can’t afford to invite conflict in the name of religion,” said KC, identifying one of the stars in the party flag as representing religion.

Further, KC defended the democratic constitution, saying only such a constitution can be a model statute in the world.

Also, he dwelt on the preparations of political parties to correct the erroneous provisions and language-related mistakes in the draft statute, reiterating his party’s stance on the major issues.

“NC is all committed to free press, individual freedom, free and fair justice and regular election, among other values, and we are never going to compromise on these issues,” he said.
