Rewrite Constitution, says Upendra Yadav

POKHARA: Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav has stressed the need to rewrite the Constitution as the newly promulgated principal law failed to address the issues of Dalits, Madhesis and indigenous people.

Yadav said the current government failed to address demands put by the agitating forces. He was speaking at a programme organised by Former Police and Army Forum in Pokhara today.

He also said the current government was not serious about resolving the current crisis. Instead, it used excessive forces to suppress the Madhes agitation, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadav warned that a nationwide protest would be held if their demands of identity, autonomous region, proportional representation, inclusiveness and republicanism were not included in the new Constitution.

He also added that the new Constitution was incomplete and did not fully guarantee the rights of all people.

He termed the current government a failure and accused it of embezzling the funds meant for earthquake victims and indulging in black marketing and "poor" governance.

Speaking on the same occasion, senior leader of the party, Ashok Rai, warned that the agitation would continue till their demands for identity and independence were addressed in the Constitution.
