Rights bodies’ request

KATHMANDU:

Various human rights organisations have recently appealed to the authorities concerned to make efforts to free Karna Bahadur Bista and Ganesh Bista of Kotwada-3, Kalikot district, who were abducted by Maoists.

In separate press statements, the National Human Rights Commission and the Human Rights Organisation Nepal have denounced the abductions. They said the act is a breach of the 25 and 8-point understandings reached between the government and the Maoist.

The NHRC has said that the Maoists beaten up the duo and and looted Rs 150,000 from them.
