RJP Nepal decides to take part in elections

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Janata Party Nepal on Thursday announced to take part in the upcoming local level, provincial and parliamentary elections.

In a statement today, RJPN said the two-day meeting held at Babarmahal under the coordination of party presidium Mahanta Thakur decided to take part in the elections after 64 percent lawmakers supported their amendment bill despite failing to endorse through the Parliament.

RJPN said that the party has been successful in establishing its agenda in the parliament.

It also accused the coaliton government of not doing enough to pass the amendment bill in the parliament t address the demands of Madhesi, indigenous and other minor community.

"RJPN urged all to express solidarity in our fight for equal rights, equal opportunity and constitutional rights," it said in the statement.

The presidium meeting also decided to wear black armband, in protest of the government hatching conspiracy for failing amendment bill and pressurising government for formation of the National Reconstruction Authority for flood disaster, from August 9 to September 6.

The meeting also decided to assign eight leaders for the official nomination of party candidates in third phase of local polls.

Nar Singh Chaudary for Saptari district; Gajadhar Yadav for Siraha; Arun Singh for Dhanusha; Govind Chaudhary for Mohattari; Shekhar Singh for Sarlahi; Satya Narayan Mandal for Rautahat; Malamati Rana Tharu for Bara and Bijaya Gupta for Parsa district respectively, as stated in the statement.

The presidium meeting including party representatives also decided to carry out various actions for six days.

On August 9, the party would hold training sessions involving all level of working committees in district headquarters. Aug 10. would collect the name of interested candidates for third phase of local polls. Aug 11, local level would finalise the name of candidate if multiple candidates file for candidacy.

Aug. 12, forging consensus with the district level candidates for the polls. Aug 13, the name list of the district candidates would be sent to the Central RJPN Presidium and Manifesto of Drafting Committee would be formed for the upcoming third phase local polls, reads the statement.

Earlier, Rastriya Janata Party Nepal succeed in fulfilling their some of the demands after they boycotted two phase of local level elections.

Meanwhile, RJP Nepal will contest in the upcoming elections with a bicycle symbol.
