RNA man killed, 2 injured

Phidim, April 26:

A Royal Nepalese Army jawan was killed and two armed policemen critically injured when a grenade carried by the security forces went off at Hatikhemba of Prangbung VDC last night.

According to security sources, forces of the temporary base camp at Prangbung, the patrol was returning after a search for the 41 policemen abducted by the Maoists on April 7 from Pashupatinagar, Ilam. Security personnel said the RNA man died because he could not be rushed to hospital in time as the area is bereft of roads.

The security forces were unable to requisition a helicopter in the night. The two injured policemen have been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The security camp was established at Prangbung a week ago.
