RAUTAHAT, NOVEMBER 28
Traders of Garuda Municipality staged a demonstration obstructing the road after an unknown vehicle hit a businessman and killed him while he was out for morning walk along the Gaur-Chandrapur Road section in the municipality, Rautahat, today.
Irate businessmen obstructedthe road and protested against the police administration for three hours after the vehicle killed Raj Narayan Sha, 48, of Garuda Municipality.
The victim's family and businessmen of the municipality obstructed the road at Methurchowk at 11:00am.
They demonstrated after police showed they were unaware about the incident. They said the police did not respond well and failed to act promptly when they were informed about the incident. Municipality Mayor Kanthamuni Prasad Jaiswal led the team that demonstrated at Methurchowk.
Local businessmen, Mayor Jaiswal and villagers staged the protest stating that the police did not act seriously on the matter.
Police said that the obstructed road resumed after an agreement to identify the vehicle and take the driver under control within 48 hours.
Police said that the relatives of the deceased received the body after the post-mortem at Provincial Hospital, Gaur.
Spokesperson for District Police Office, Rautahat, Sunil Malla, said final rites were performed today.
The police team is searching for the culprit.
