Robbers kill 1

Rupandehi, November 11:

A local Budhha Bhandari died on the spot and another sustained injuries when they retaliated against a group of three looters who were trying to flee after looting cash from the Prabhu Money Transfer at the busy Rammandir line of Butwal today.

Bhandari was shot dead by a looter Bikash Ale, Police Inspector Ranjit Singh Rathaur of Area Police Office, Butwal said.

Local Rudra Dhakal who was also seriously injured in shootout has been taken to Kathmandu for treatment after preliminary treatment at a local hospital.

Police said people near the Money Transfer office shouted for help forcing the looters to flee the scene without taking the Rs one million they had managed to pocket.

Locals had thrashed Bikash Ale and is now undergoing treatment in the Lumbini Zonal Hospital.

Two other looters managed to escape while a pistol was recovered at the site of the incident, police said.

The brother of the deceased and owner of a neighbouring utensil shop, Arjun Bhandari said Ale is an employee of the Sidhhartha Transport Entrepreneurs’ Committee, Bhairahawa, but was expelled from his job some six months ago.

The incidents of robbery are on the rise in Butwal since the past few months.
