Robbery bid foiled, four held

Rautahat, October 12:

A police team yesterday arrested four persons from Gaidatar of Rautahat district with arms.

“Prem Lama, Chhekudurje Bal Lama, Sher Bahadur Magar and Ram Bahadur Gole of Chandranigahapur-3 were arrested while they were planning for a loot,” Superintendent of Police Jaya Bahadur Chand said, adding that investigation into the case is underway.

In another incident in the district, the police seized illegally imported goods worth one million rupees yesterday. “Copper utensils weighing 314 kg, cloth, 68 cartons of eggs and steel goods were seized from a bus,” the Rautahat District Police Office said, adding that the seized goods had been sent to the Gaur Customs Office for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the police seized cattle, which were being illegally exported to India from Garuda in the district.

Eighty-three cows and oxen worth five lakh rupees were seized and handed over to the customs office, said the police, adding that smugglers were at large.
