RPP flays govt over MP murder probe

Kathmandu, October 5:

Rastriya Prajatantra Party leaders today criticised the government for failing to trace the murderers of Krishna Charan Shrestha.

They were speaking at a condolence programme organised to mark the 13th day of Shrestha’s demise.

RPP leaders came down heavily on the government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country. “Even after 13 days of Shrestha’s murder, the government has not been able to trace the culprits,” they said. Shrestha, who represented the RPP in the house of representatives from constituency 3 of Siraha, was murdered on September 23 by gunmen while he was on a morning walk. The Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha owned up murder.

Former prime minister and senior leader, Lokendra Bahadur Chand, criticised the government for not being able to get hold of the murderers even after two weeks. “This shows the government’s incompetency,” he said. RPP leader Khem Raj Pandit said the government is still keeping mum despite the fact that Shrestha was gunned down by using modern weapons.

RPP acting chairman Jogmeher Shrestha, senior leader Biswo Bandhu Thapa, Deepak Bohara, Parsuram Khapung, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan also criticised the government for the delay in nabbing murderers.
