Rs 4m distributed to quake victims

District Administration Office, Tanahun has so far distributed Rs 40,770,000 to earthquake victims across the district for buying warm clothes.

The quake victims of Suklagandaki Municipality and 35 village development committees of the district received Rs 10,000 each for the buying warm clothes.

Assistant Chief District Officer Kishor Kumar Chaudhary said there were 5,648 victims in the district. “Of them, the office had distributed relief to 4,077 victims so far,” he added.

Chaudhary said the cash relief would be distributed to the remaining victims soon.

“Around Rs 70,000,000 is required to distribute cash relief to all quake victims in the district,” he informed.

Earlier, the government had distributed Rs 15,000 each to the earthquake victims. It is said that as many as 5,500 houses were destroyed in the devastating earthquake of April 25 while more than 30,000 houses were damaged.

It has also been reported that more than 13 government employees, who were working in different offices out of the district, had lost their lives in the disaster.
